Length of Stay: One week in September
Day 1: Arrival in Agadir
Upon my arrival at Agadir airport, I was greeted by a representative from Drive Plus, who quickly assisted me in picking up my rental car. It was perfect for exploring the region at my own pace. After dropping off my belongings at the hotel, I enjoyed a relaxing first walk along the Agadir Corniche, where I admired the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean.
Day 2: Discovering Agadir
I started my day with a visit to the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella. The panoramic view of the city was incredible and allowed me to take stunning photos. Next, I headed to the Souk El Had, a true delight for the senses with its colors, aromas, and local crafts—it's worth dedicating an entire day to explore the vast souk. For lunch, I savored a succulent lamb tagine accompanied by fresh Moroccan salads.
In the evening, I dined at a seaside restaurant where I tried grilled fish while enjoying the sea breeze. Don't miss the delicious almond pastries, a sweet treat that made me fall in love with them, especially paired with Moroccan mint tea.
Day 3: Excursion to Essaouira
On the third day, I took the road to Essaouira. The drive of about two and a half hours was pleasant. Upon arrival, I was enchanted by the Essaouira medina. I explored the ramparts, the port, and tasted seafood at the market. I also enjoyed a fresh orange juice in the square.
Don’t miss the little craft shops where I found lovely souvenirs. The return to Agadir was equally enjoyable, with a beautiful sunset drive along the Atlantic coast.
Day 4: Paradise Valley and Imouzzer
This day was dedicated to nature. I drove to Paradise Valley, where I hiked in breathtaking scenery, followed by a picnic by the natural pools. I swam in the crystal-clear water, a pure moment of joy! On the way back, I visited Imouzzer, a picturesque Berber village famous for its seasonal waterfalls—perfect spots for climbing enthusiasts.
Day 5: Adventure in Taroudant
On the fifth day, I visited Taroudant, often referred to as "little Marrakech." I strolled through the souks and enjoyed a traditional couscous lunch accompanied by fresh buttermilk, as Moroccan tradition dictates! Be sure to stop by an argan oil cooperative to learn about the local production.
The return to Agadir was quick and stress-free thanks to the car. In the evening, I enjoyed another grilled fish dish at a restaurant.
Day 6: Tiznit and Mirleft
I headed to Tiznit, famous for its silver jewelry. I then continued to Mirleft, where the wild beaches and coastal landscapes were breathtaking. I had lunch at a small café, where I was lucky enough to taste homemade almond pastries. It was a treat!
Day 7: Relaxation and Final Discoveries
For my last day, I chose to relax on Agadir beach. I also visited Souss-Massa National Park to observe the birds. At the end of the day, I bought a jar of amlou, the famous spread made from almonds and argan oil, which I brought home because it was so delicious.
Tips for a Successful Stay in Agadir
Rent a car: This makes it easier to explore the surrounding areas and less accessible destinations.
Pack light clothing: The climate is hot, especially in the summer.
Taste local specialties: Don’t miss out on tagines, couscous, salads, fresh seafood, avocado juices, and almond pastries.
Be mindful of opening hours: Some markets and museums close earlier during the week.
Agadir is an incredible destination that combines beaches, culture, and adventure. I highly recommend spending a week here and renting a car to make the most of everything this beautiful region has to offer! I can't wait to return!
